Karinska — Balanchine — Suzanne Farrell —

I am putting together a pictoral which demonstrates the magnificent way in which Karinska dressed Suzanne Farrell while they both worked with Balanchine. It is very interesting to note the "uninspired" costuming during the break between Balanchine and Suzanne during the time Suzanne danced with Bejart in Europe.

I will add images and narrative over the next month -- so more than any other -- this page is a work in progress. When most people try to capture images in ballet they look for the perfect alignment for dance -- these images try to capture the perfect split in the skirt, or layering of fabric, or bodice detail and may not the the typical ballet image. I do not intend to slight the dancer. I am looking for design details rather than dance details.
